Idaho Unarmed Security Guard Training

There are not many fields of employment in the United States of America that are expected to grow in demand between now and 2018 as much as the security guard job, which is predicted to grow by as much as fourteen percent (14%) during that time period.  However, unlike a majority of States around the country, Idaho unarmed security guard training and licensing is not required to be issued on a State-level prior to being permitted to provide security guard services. 

While this is true on a State-level (i.e., there is no requirement that a would-be security guard obtain a license issued by a State agency pursuant to an Idaho statutory mandate), many cities in Idaho do in fact require that their residents obtain a security guard license. 

An non-exhaustive list of some of the major cities with this requirement include:  Boise City, Nampa, Lewiston, Caldwell, and Pocatello. 

Unarmed Security Guard Requirements

Although there are not State-level training and licensing requirements, applicants wishing to be employed as an Idaho unarmed security guards must still meet some basic requirements to be considered.  The applicant must be:

• 18 years of of age of older;
• A United States Citizen or, alternatively, permitted to work under the Federal Immigration & Naturalization Act (i.e., a legal resident alien lawfully in the country).

Additionally, as a general rule, most security guard agencies require that the applicant have at least a high school degree (or GED or other equivalent certificate).
